Individual Components
1969 Firebird Tubular Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves Part # ADJ-3
Global West Suspension sells tubular tie rod adjusting sleeves for the 1969 Firebird. The Global West Advantage The tie rod sleeves provide a 360 degree, full-thread engagement rather than a split sleeve and are locked in position with jam nuts. When tightened, the jam nuts stop the sleeve from rotating. Make sure to use an open-end wrench to turn the sleeve for adjustments. Unlike the factory sleeves, no special tools are required to adjust them. They will not come loose when tightened correctly and they help prevent any dirt or water from collecting in the thread that can impair adjustments. Why do you need tubular sleeves? Tubular sleeves are needed mainly when hard cornering and the load on the steering linkage is high. Global West has seen factory sleeves loosen at the clamp. This damages the threads in the sleeve and allows the alignment toe setting to change. Tubular sleeves engage along the entire sleeve, thus giving the best holding ability and reducing any chance of thread slippage. Benefits
  • Strength
  • Easy adjustment
  • No special tools required
  • Longevity
  • Steel construction
