Description
Wander Bars / front lower frame brace
GM used a front frame brace some called the wander bar in the early 80s. This is a name GM put on the lower steering brace that ties the front frame horns together on 82-92 Camaros and Firebirds. This brace was not standard on all models. The bar reduces flex and the twisting action generated from the steering box. It is more noticeable when large front tires are used. The wander bar is sandwiched between the frame and the sway bar.
We built a heavy duty brace for this application. The main difference between our bar and GM is the thickness of the tubing (we use thicker wall tubing) and the bolt hole openings. GM uses much larger holes which tend to allow for more forgiveness when mounting the bar (production tolerances). We closed up the tolerances and offer two bars, TS-13 for 1982-84 and TS-14 for 1985-92 models. Interesting enough, they are supposed to be the same car!
