Global West Suspension manufactures components, such as the spherical bearing kit, to free up the rear suspension on 1964-1977 A-body applications. This includes Chevelle, GTO, Buick GS, GTO, Cutlass, and others.
Freeing up the suspension provides greater corner exit traction, smoother ride, and less twisting loads exerted into the frame through suspension movement. The components can be used for street, drag, and handling applications.
There are three steps for achieving this ultimate goal; video links that describe the previous two steps are provided below. The video featured above describes step three, installing a spherical bearing kit in the upper differential bushing mount. The bearing allows the differential to pivot without deflecting laterally thus removing twist going into the upper control arms. The upper mount can be used with stock or any aftermarket arm that takes the stock width bushing.
You can use this product by itself; however, for the preferred effect, we recommend using it with the other two steps. The units press into the rear end upper bushing mounts and lock into place with a retaining collar. No lubrication is necessary because the bearing is teflon lined and self-lubricating.
Kit #SP-47
Note: We do offer a spherical bearing kit designed for Moser differentials (part #SP-47M).
