Global West sells a spherical bearing kit that requires no welding! It is designed for the 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, and 1988 Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, and Monte Carlo.
Threaded housing and special threaded retaining rings hold the unit in place. A spanner wrench is included. We do not recommended this product for street use. This kit eliminates the use of rubber or polyurethane bushings in the upper pivot location.
Freeing up the suspension provides greater corner exit traction, smoother ride, and less twisting loads exerted into the frame through suspension movement. The components can be used for street, drag, and handling applications.
The bearing allows the differential to pivot without deflecting laterally thus removing twist going into the upper control arms. The upper mount can be used with stock or any aftermarket arm that takes the stock width bushing.
The units press into the rear end upper bushing mounts and lock into place with a retaining collar. No lubrication is necessary because the bearing is teflon lined and self-lubricating. Kit #SP-88
