Front and Rear Suspension
1993-2002 Firebird Adjustable Panhard Rod with 1 Polyurethane Bushing and 1 Rod End #PHC-3
Global West sells adjustable panhard rods ( with one polyurethane bushing and one rod end) for the 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002 Firebird.)
What are Panhard Rods? Panhard rods are designed to reduce lateral movement of the rear axle in the chassis. One side attaches to the rear end while the other attaches to the frame or uni-body. The stock panhard rods generally are light duty and tend to deflect when the car is driven hard. Rear axle location is then compromised. Another condition regarding factory rods is that they are non-adjustable in length. Raising or lowering the car requires readjustment of the length in order to center the rear axle under the car. Failure to do so will result in possible tire rubbing on one side or suffer a distinct handling difference between right and left hand turns. Replacing the factory panhard rod with one of our performance units solves several problems. Tech Tip: Lowering your 1982-2002 Firebird will cause a shift in the rear end toward the passenger side. An adjustable panhard rod is mandatory for re-centering the rear axle. The PHC-3 uses a spherical bearing on the frame side and an adjustable collar with a spherical rod end on the rear end side. PHC-3 is used for racing applications and can be used on the street as well.
