Description
Global West offers a 1 inch sway bar for the rear of A-body cars such as Chevelle, El Camino, Malibu, Monte Carlo –model years 1964, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, and 1972. The sway bar attaches to the original factory mounting location on the lower control arm. It basically bolts to the side of the control arm. This sway bar will also attach to Global West lower control arms part number tbc-4.
This sway bar is best used for street and drag racing applications. We do not advise using this sway bar for auto cross or road racing applications. Note: Cars with poor handling generally have a lot of corner entry understeer. This is generally due to using too soft of a front spring. Large sway bars on the front can be installed to reduce body roll and understeer. However, the vehicle may still have some understeer. So what do you do? The consensus would be to install a rear sway bar or increase the size of the rear sway bar. A rear sway bar can bring the rear end around reducing corner exit understeer however it can also reduce corner exit traction.
Our approach is different. We fix the geometry in the front and make the car turn into the corner, so traction isn’t reduced in the rear. Depending on the front-end’s capability, installing a rear sway bar in some cases will give the car less grip in a corner.
