Del-A-Lum Lower Control Arm Bushing Kit- part # 1029
Global West manufactures Del-A-Lum upper control arm bushings for Impala, Caprice, Bel Air and Biscayne applications (model years--1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996).
The bushings directly replace the stock units. No modifications are required to the control arm. They simply press into the arm just as the stock would. However a cotter pin must be installed at the end of the control arm shaft so a 1/8 inch hole be drilled into the stock shaft after assembly.
Why the need for drilling?
Del-a-lum bushings act like a bearing in the control arm. They don’t allow fore and aft movement, but do allow smooth up and down movement, similar to that of a bearing.
The bushing torque setting on a Del-a-lum bushing is close to that of a wheel bearing, using a cotter pin in the slotted hex nut (provided in the kit) is required for holding the correct torque. Del-A-Lum bushings feature inner and outer thrust washers, inner rotating sleeve and lube fittings. This unique design provides smooth performance without squeaks or bind. Designed to last over 100,000 miles. Del-A-Lum bushings on the street or the track will give you optimum performance and control.
