Sub Frame Connectors (non convertible) Part #900
Global West Suspension manufactures subframe connectors for Firebird--model years 1967, 1968, and 1969 that tuck up tight against the floor. No cutting or modification of floor pans are required, and the subframe connectors are full length. This also means the connector is going to the back of the factory subframe and extend to the rear structural support rail going over the differential.
Tech Information:
The Global West tubular subframe connector is welded to the uni-body portion of the chassis, not bolted. Also, they do not attach to the leaf spring front bracket bolts. Those bolts are 3/8 of an inch in diameter and are held in place with small nut clips and will not hold up.
The subframe connector sandwiches between the factory frame and the body, which can be bolted or welded. Although welding is usually best, in this case, it is not as practical. If the car is in a collision, the frame needs to be replaced by unbolting the subframe; however, bolting to the original frame works because the material of the factory frame is 3/16 thick, all the sides are being bolted.
Interloc body mount bushings should be used if subframes are installed because they compliment the subframe’s objective. Global West provides two body mount bushings with hardware are included with subframe connectors.
Remember:
Use part #809 for the remaining 4 body mount locations. The #809 kit is a stock height body mount. If you want to lower the body 1/2 inch unto the frame, use kit #819 for the body mount bushings.
Note: This kit will not fit convertibles. Use part #900C for convertible applications.
Subframes are powder coated black.
Subframes are made from 1 5/8 x 0.125 wall DOM tubing and is contoured to follow the floor.
Additional hardware and plates are supplied with kit.
No exhaust modifications are required.
