Convertible Subframe Connector Part #900C

1967-69 Subframes, Body Mount Bushings
Convertible Subframe Connector Part #900C
Global West Suspension manufactures subframe connectors for 1967, 1968 and 1969 Camaro convertibles that tuck up tight against the floor. Both are contoured so no cutting or modification of floor pans are required. The subframe connectors are full length, which means the connector attaches to the back of the factory subframe and extends to the rear structural support rail going over the differential. Tech Tips and Recommendations: The subframe connector sandwiches between the factory frame and the body, which can be bolted or welded. Although welding is usually best, for street applications Global West recommends bolting the subframe to the factory frame. If the car is in a collision and the frame needs to be replaced, unbolting the subframe from the original frame makes replacement easy. As for the rear of the connector, attaching the subframe connector does require some welding. Bolting to a uni-body square rail only collapses the rail as you tighten the bolts thus making the subframe useless. Welding is the best solution. Global West does not bolt the subframe connector to the leaf spring mounting bolts because these bolts are 3/8 inch bolts and are held in with small nut clips. They already support the leaf spring. Adding additional chassis flex into these bolts defeats the purpose of the subframe connector. Interloc body mount bushings should be used if subframes are installed because they compliment the subframe’s objective. Global West provides two body mount bushings with hardware are included with subframe connectors. Reminders and Specs: Use part #809, for the remaining 4 body mount locations. The #809 kit is a stock height body mount. If you want to lower the body 1/2 inch unto the frame, use kit #819 for the body mount bushings. Subframes are powder coated black. Subframes are made from 1 5/8 x 0.125 wall DOM tubing and contoured to fit the floor. Additional hardware and plates are supplied with kit. No exhaust modifications are required.
