1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 Impala Adjustable Strut Rod- part # ASR-50
Global West manufactures replacement adjustable strut rods for 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970 Impala, Belair, and Biscayne applications. The adjustable Strut Rod (technically called brake reaction strut rods) locate the lower control arm fore and aft in the fender well. Standard bushings deflect during acceleration and braking allowing the tire to move fore and aft in the fender well. This movement slightly changes the wheelbase; front-end alignment and directly relates to the cars stability. Stiffer strut rod bushings are one way of reducing the fore and aft movement issue. However to stiff a bushing can cause the strut rod to fatigue. Global West recommends using high-density rubber bushings over other materials which allow the strut rod to pivot with minimal fore and aft deflection. A more positive approach to the problem would be to install an adjustable strut rod kit with a spherical rod end in place of the rubber bushing. Global Wests strut rods are designed as a bolt on application. No welding or frame modifications are required. When using a strut rod design of this nature the deflection is totally eliminated. The suspension no longer deflects fore and aft. The vehicle now sees a lower a-arm rather than a two component system (strut rod & lower arm). Strut rods are powder coated black Adjusting sleeve uses a standard open-end wrench, no special tools required Hardware is included with each kit Bolt on application, no frame modifications
