1964-66 Mustang Coilover Front End Kit

Just released from Global West Suspension, front coilover kit for 1964-66 Mustangs.  The kit replaces the stock suspension with No welding, or frame modifications other than drilling a few mounting holes. The new design, a double (A-arm) system is available with our Negative Roll Geometry or G-plus design. The differences between the two suspension systems are the application. Negative Roll is used for a street /road handling application, where G-Plus is used for street/drag application. Both systems incorporate adjustable ride height coilover shocks with  3 different shock combinations available – non-adjustable, single adjustable (rebound) or double adjustable (bump and rebound), lower A-arms, upper A-arms, billet upper shock mounts, newly designed tower supports, and sway bar.

The upper control arms in conjunction with the lowers have new alignment specifications built in to them. Reduced shimming is achieved for proper setting.

The new lower control arms have an adjustable mount at the strut rod location. This is not used for setting your alignment but for installation purposes due to discrepancies in production and years of service.  You will also notice a new sway bar location. The new lower arm incorporates the sway bar attachment point up in between the lower arm mounting points. This allows the car to be lowered further without running into frame clearance problems associated with the stock setup. The design also allows for a longer coilover shock to be used which gives the front suspension more available travel, 9 inches total.   In addition, adjustable steering stops are also included

The shock and spring attach to the lower control arm closer to the lower ball joint and centerline of the tire. This provides greater dampening control of the suspension.  Fine adjustment to the shock yield greater affects to the suspension then the stock configuration.

Standard spindles are used, drum or disc along with standard steering. However any steering may be used, provided it is designed for 64-66 Mustang.

New tubular inner fender well shock tower panels are also included with the coilover kit.  This design is necessary for accessing the shock adjusters and repositioning the bump stops giving the suspension more travel.  The Part # TS-46 (supplied in the coilover kits) is also sold separately and is used with factory control arms or Global West Negative roll upper arms. TS-46 comes with new hardware is powder coated black.

The new coilover kits are available for street / drag racing and street / road racing (Negative roll system) applications. There are 3 part numbers per category based on the type of shocks you order. The shock combinations are non-adjustable
(no-valve adjustment), single adjustable (rebound adjustment only) and double adjustment (bump and rebound adjustments).

The following part numbers are for Street / Drag applications:

Part # COMST-6466 --- non-adjustable valve shocks ----- $3148.00
Part # COMST-6466S --- single adjustable shock (rebound only) -- $3375.00
Part # COMST-6466D --- double adjustable shocks (bump and rebound) -- $3599.00

The following part numbers are for Street / Road racing applications.

Part # COMNR-6466 --- non-adjustable valve shocks ----- $3148.00
Part # COMNR-6466S --- single adjustable shock (rebound only) -- $3375.00
Part # COMNR-6466D --- double adjustable shocks (bump and rebound) -- $3599.00

INSTRUCTION SHEETS

The photo to the right shows a coilover kit installed on a 66 Mustang. Notice the 13 inch, 6 piston brake kit. This kit is not a Wilwood kit. We however are using a couple of Wilwood parts to make it up. The brake kit Part # c5f-6466-1300-6 is designed for the stock drum brake spindle. We designed this kit using the new Wilwood 6 piston radial mount caliper. Brackets, billet hubs, and various components in the kit are designed and built by Global West. The beauty of this design is that it does not change the track width. The only requirement is that the wheels must by 17 inch or bigger. For more information see Category 5 Disc brakes.
