Global West offers a disc brake package called Category 5. This package is designed for specific applications that fit our suspension. Special attention was given to wheel sizes and offsets, making sure the brake package keeps the load on the spindle the same as factory. All of our applications required manufacturing billet hubs and using specific offset hats in order to utilize 1-1/4" wide rotors. Special caliper brackets and/or spindle modifications became necessary for completing the package and allowing production wheels to fit. All brake packages that require spindle modifications are done in-house and are shipped pre-assembled.

Note: 1-1/4" wide stockcar rotors are grooved for water and gas removal. Gases generated between the pad and rotor surface reduce braking efficiency.

Note about wheel studs: Cat-5 disc brake kits use 1-1/2" long, 1/2" diameter wheel studs. They will accommodate closed lug nuts. ARP racing studs are available 3" long, 1/2" diameter (shown above). ARP studs require open wheel lug nuts. If you wish to order hubs with 3 inch long ARP studs, simply add ARP behind the part number when ordering.

Category 5 brakes are available in 3 sizes for 1970-81 Camaro/Firebirds:
* 11.75 diameter rotor --- 4 piston caliper
* 12.2 diameter rotor ----- 4 or 6 piston caliper
* 13 inch diameter rotor ----- 4 or 6 piston caliper

The brakes are supplied pre-assembled with new spindles, billet hubs, bearing, seals, ARP studs, Wilwood Calipers, brake pads, 1 1/4 wide vented rotors, and braided steel lines. Simply take the units out of the box and install on the car.
