Subframe Connectors and Steering Support Brace:

Using subframe connectors for high performance street and racing applications has been done for a long time. It is no secret that tying the car together with subframes not only stiffens the chassis but improves vehicle response. Global West has been building subframe connectors for 28 years. Over this period of time we have come to certain conclusions.

  1. Subframes that attach to uni-body chassis like the Camaro/ Firebird must be welded.
  2. Subframes on uni-body chassis must extend to the strongest point fore and aft for obtaining the best results.
  3. Round tube subframes, yield stronger torsion resistance then square, per given weight..
  4. Subframes should have large mounting areas to distribute the loads.
  5. If you are serious about street performance, or you drive a convertible / T top, subframes are required.

Benefits and Features: (weld on subframes for 1982-2002 )

  • Round tube subframes provide greater rigidity.
  • .125 wall Roll cage tubing is strictly used in all are subframes.
  • 1 5/8 diameter seamless tubing is used for 1982-92 chassis and 93-99 convertible.
  • 2 inch diameter seamless tubing is used for 1993-02 non-convertible chassis.
  • Fuel lines remain in their original position .
  • Large 3/16 material for gussets and plates are strictly used.
  • Subframes are designed and positioned so roll cage tie in is easily done.
  • Subframes tie into the strongest portions of the chassis.
  • Subframes are designed to help protect occupants  in case of side impact.
  • Subframes act as a jack point.
  • No cutting of the floor is required for installation.
  • Zero ground clearance lost.
  • Clears 75% of most exhaust systems on 1982-92 vehicles.
  • Clears all exhaust on 1993-99 vehicles.
  • Subframes are powder coated black.

Subframe for 1982-92 non convertible Part# 904 shown to the right. Part# 904 $198.02

Part # 905 fits 1993-2002 Camaro/Firebirds non-convertible applications. The subframes tuck up tight along the rocker rails out of sight. Zero ground clearance is lost. 905 subframes weld to the uni-body and span the distance between the front and rear pillar giving the passenger compartment greater support against side impact. The large diameter 2 inch  .125 wall tubing also strengthens the over all chassis.
Kit 905 ---
$199.95

Part# 905-C fits 93-02 Convertibles
The material used is 1-5/8  x .125 wall roll cage tubing. the subframe welds to the front and rear pillar locations but also welds along the rocker rail. Strip welds along the rocker rail and additional support pads are used making the chassis even more rigid
  Part # 905-C ------ $237.63

Steering Support Brace 1982-92
The steering brace sometimes could the wander bar is used to add additional support to the front frame area located at the steering box. When large tire and wheel combinations are used on the front of these cars, the uni-body portion holding the steering box works a lot harder. The  TS-13 brace for 1982 and 83 models or TS-14 brace for 84-92 models add additional support. The brace is a bolt on application and takes only a few minutes to install.

Part# TS-13 --- $45.00 ----- 82 and 83 models

Part# TS-14 --- $45.00 ----- 84 and 92 models
