We offer five multi-leaf spring combinations for 1970-81.

1. Part # L-16.------ L-16 replaces the standard multi leaf and lowers the rear by 1-1/4-inches from stock. L-16 is a excellent street spring however it will not handle drag or high horsepower applications without a traction device.
2. Part # L-2 ------ L-2  is designed for performance street and racing applications. We use this spring a lot with our performance street and race car combinations.   L-2's unique leaf arrangement control spring wrap-up which causes wheel hop. Using this type of spring combined with Del-a-lum bushings and performance shocks generally eliminates the need for traction bars. This leaf is used on 70-73 Camaro and Firebirds. L-2's also lower the vehicle 1-1/4 inches from stock.

Rear bushings and Shackle kits:

Del-a-lum shackle kits come complete with front eyelet's, rear eyelet's, frame bushings and shackles. All Del-a-lum bushings are supplied with grease fittings allowing for easy lubrication.

Category 5 rear leaf springs !

 What are Category 5 leafs? Category 5 leafs are leaf springs with spherical bearings installed in the front and rear eyelets rather then bushings. Del-a-lum bushings are used in the rear frame area along with shackles and specific hardware. They are considered to be the ultimate leaf spring combination.

Why should you use them?

There are two advantages to this type of leaf spring system. First: Using spherical bearings in the eyelets allow the rear end to tilt during corners keeping the inside and outside tire flat on the pavement. This also works over bumps. The sharpness of the bump is reduced. Second: The spherical bearing and bushing combination used does not allow the leaf springs to move laterally. Standard rubber and polyurethane bushings do, therefore using a cat5 system eliminates the panhard rod or any other lateral locating device.

The end result is smother cornering transitions and faster corner exit speeds.

A little tech tip!  No panhard rods when using this system. They will create a bind condition. Cat 5 systems pivot on a centerline. The centerline never changes.

Category 5 leafs are sold fully assembled:

All of our leafs lower the car approximately 1-1 /4 inches measured from stock ride height.  the leafs are shipped assembled with the shackle system. Press work will be required for installation of the rear Del-a-lum bushings. The rest of the installation will just bolt on.

Part # L-2CAT5 is used for street and road racing applications. We use this spring for all medium to high horsepower 67-73 Camaros and Firebirds.

Part # L-3 CAT5 is used for street and road racing applications. We use this spring for all medium to high horsepower 74-81 Camaros and Firebirds.

Part # 115SH is a CAT5 housing kit to convert your stock multi leaf springs over to a bearing system. This kit requires welding and press work.

Note: All Cat5 rear leaf spring kits are shipped pre-assembled. They also include frame bushings and shackles.
