wood about 14 inches long.

The fastest way to change body mount bushings is to leave the vehicle on the ground. You can start with either side however let’s
start with passenger side. The subframe connectors can be installed later
after the body mount bushings.
- Loosen the bolts on the driver side. There are 3 bolts per side.
One at the radiator core, one at the engine firewall, and one at the
end of the stock subframe under the front seats. Do not take them out
yet. Just loosen the bolts so the body can tilt slightly on the frame.
This way the body will remain indexed.
- Remove all 3 bolts on the passenger side.
- Take a floor jack with a piece of wood about 14 inches long and
place it along the
rocker
rail about 10 inches back from the front door jam. The block of wood
should be next to the lip or rocker rail seam and clear any fuel or
brake lines. Simply gently raise the body up with the floor jack until
the space between the frame and body allow you to remove the old
bushings and install the new.
-
Install the bushing under the seat first. The bushings are found in the
subframe kit. They are 2-1/4 outside diameter with a longer male step
then those found in the 809 kit. The 2-1/4 width of the bushing
goes
between the body and the frame. The step drops down through the frame.
See photo.

- After completing step 4, install the 2-1/4-diameter bushing from the
809 kit at the firewall position.
6. The final bushing on the passenger side is the radiator core
support. It is one of the 2 –inch diameter male bushings with a 1/2
–inch hole. This bushing installs the opposite as the others. The step
part of the bushing goes up through the radiator core mount. Slide the
bushing into place and lower the body back down onto the frame.
7. Install the female portion of the bushings located at the firewall
and radiator core support. The bushing indexes on the step of the
installed male bushing and sandwiches the frame. Basically when the
assembly is tightened, the bushing halves will lock the frame in
position so it cannot slip.
8. Install the female portion of the back bushing located with the
subframe kit. Install using a 5/8 x 4-inch long bolt with a 5/8-lock
washer and 5/8 flat washer. Do not tighten yet.
9. Install a 5/8 x 3-1/2 bolt with a 5/8-lock washer and 5/8 flat
washer and install at the firewall location. Do not tighten yet.
10. Install a 2-3/4x ½ bolt and one ½ inch washer from the top down.
Install another ½ inch washer with a lock nut through the frame on the
bottom of the radiator core bushing. See photo to the right.
11. Once the bolts are all installed run them down a little. DO NOT
TIGHTEN. They must have room to pivot because you have to do the other
side.
12. Move to the driver side and install the bushing in the same manner.
13. After both sides are complete. Tighten down the radiator core and
firewall bolts. Torque the 5/8 bolts at the firewall first to 100
foot- pounds. Torque the radiator core bolts to 70 foot-pounds.
Tighten the bolt at the back of the frame but do not torque. You are
going to loosen this bolt again to install the subframe.
14. Move the car onto a drive on ramp. A drive on is best for
installing the subframes.
15. Once on a drive on ramp, loosen the back bolts holding the
subframe. The frame will drop down from the floor. Slide the new
subframe over the stock frame and under the bushing. Note: In some cases you may have to pry down on the frame just a little for installation. See photo
16. Install the subframe according to instructions. Make sure the rear
frame bolts are tightened to 100 foot-pounds before welding the new
subframe into position.
