Part # TBC-6

Chevelle ---- GTO ---- Buick GS ---- Oldsmobile 442
1964-1972

Rear tubular control arms and frame supports

Rear upper adjustable control arms:

Part # TBC-47 and TBC-82 make setting pinion angle easy. The control arm is designed so that the arm does not have to be removed in order to adjust the length. A special hex adjuster with right and left-hand threads are used for making the adjustment.  Jam nuts secure the position after adjustment. High misalignment spherical bearings are located on the frame side allowing the rear to have proper movement. While standard rubber bushings should be used for street and handling applications. Hardware is included in the kit.
Note: Polyurethane bushings in this application will restrict to much movement. If you are looking for a racing application or ultimate street,   we do offer a bearing system that easily installs in the rear end housing.
Kit# SP-47.

Kit# SP-47 bearing kit installs in the rear end upper pivot point eliminating rubber or polyurethane bushings. This kit provides a way to install spherical bearings without modifying the rear end. The kit includes 2 high misalignment bearings, 2 housings, retaining rings, spacers, and a spanner wrench. No welding is required. (photo to the right)
Kit # SP-47 --- Costs-$290.27

Upper Control Arm Kit
Kit # TBC-47 fits 1964-67 --Costs $310.75

(2 arms per kit)

Kit # TBC-82 fits 1968-72---Costs $310.75 (2 arms per kit)
Note:
Adjustable upper arms are required if you are installing a nine-inch Ford rear end.

Rear Lower Tubular Control Arms -
Information applies to all  4 link rear suspension applications.
(A-bodies are 4 link)-(Best lower arm TBC-4 shown right)

Rear lower control arms are probably one of the first performance suspension components many upgrade when working on their suspension. Unfortunately there are so many control arms available, choosing the correct arm for your application can be a problem. You need to be clear on what your intent is for the car: drag, street, road racing or a combination of . We have developed three different style lower control arms depending on application.

Part # TBC-4 --- Best for overall applications and performance.
TBC-4 has overall the best performance characteristics for combining drag, street, and road racing without developing undesirable side affects. The arm design uses Del-a-lum bushings on the rear end side and a spherical bearing on the frame side The Del-a-lum bushing controls lateral movement of the differential while the bearing allows for the rear suspension to travel through it's intended arc without bind. The result contributes to a smooth street ride and amazing rear end stability through corners. As for drag racing, the
TBC-4 controls lateral movement stopping the rear end from shifting sideways during a hard launch. The bearing also eliminates twisting loads on the frame at the lower control arm mounting point. We offer two styles of control arms with this design. The difference is how the sway bar attaches. We have a side mount pictured above, and a bottom mount sway bar picture to the left.

Part # TBC-4 -Cost $397.12 pr

The second best control arm for all applications is Part # TBC-18. This control arm is similar to the one featured above TBC-4. A spherical bearing is used on the frame side and polyurethane bushings are used on the rear end side. Basically the only difference is the bushings used. This control arm will work in all applications. However, polyurethane bushings will not have the lateral control a Del-a-lum bushing has. This is the major reason why TBC-4 is so superior.
Part # TBC-18 - Costs $338.89 pr

The third style is a double poly arm. This means polyurethane bushings are used on both ends of the control arm Part # TBC-6.This type of a control arm is best used for drag racing. The bushings, however, limit rear end movement. Many drag cars can get away with this because of the way the car is set up. However, this type of arm is used on the street or for handling applications will cause the inside tire to unload during cornering reducing rear traction. This is because the control arm bushings will not allow the rear end to have proper movement.
Part # TBC-6 - Costs $274.14 pr
Overstock item $237.58 pr

Rear frame supports:

Adjustable round tube supports tie the upper control arm frame mount to the lower control arm mount (see photo to right). The supports provide additional strength to the upper cross-member in order to reduce the possibility of tearing the upper mount off during hard acceleration. The factory used stamped plates with slots in an attempt to support frame. Our supports are stronger and adjust to the precise length without slots. Note: Parts are shipped black---- not red.

The rear frame braces are powder coated black and shipped
pre-assembled.  New hardware is also included. There are two kits available:

Part # TS-47 fits-----  1964-67 ----- Cost $133.27

Part # TS-82 fits-----  1968-72 ----- Cost $133.27
